How it all began…
Charlie’s is the creation of global traveller and author Brooke Saward who fostered a love for French pastries
and delicious desserts over eight years travelling the world living in various cities. The vision for Charlie’s was to bring a world of sweets to the city of Launceston, in a unique setting that would transport customers to a fine affair – a place to meet over tea or coffee and enjoy a sweet or two.
On October 1, 2016, Charlie’s first opened its doors to a long line of customers eager to taste the sweet creations. Since then the response has been phenomenal – with a loyal base of return customers and enthusiastic new visitors from out of town.
The team at Charlie’s have been integral to creating a warm, friendly and welcoming environment to everyone who visits our store. We are constantly recreating and reinventing our menu – always bringing new creations and inventions home to Tasmania, while enlisting local suppliers for our incredible produce.
What’s in the Name?
Our team of staff have their own theories as to the origins of the name behind Charlie’s, but our owner insists it pays tribute to the Roald Dahl classic: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Call it luck or coincidence that we are located on Launceston’s iconic Charles Street!
